Response to the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Mental Health, Draft Report

While mental illness does not discriminate, there are some people and communities who are disproportionately affected by mental ill-health.

In 2020, we made a submission in response to the draft report of the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Mental Health.

We told the Commission that a key factor driving poor outcomes in Australia’s mental health system is its focus on clinical services without adequate consideration of the other factors that affect mental health outcomes. We also commented on the proposed framework for monitoring, evaluation and research, the funding of the mental health system and more.
