Deborah Fewster
Deb Fewster has two decades of experience as an executive leader and Board Director across Victoria’s health and community services sector, in roles dedicated to advancing social, economic and environmental justice. For the past seven years, she has served as Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS), the peak body for Victoria’s social and community services sector and the state’s premier social advocacy body. In this role, she leads a team of policy experts working towards a Victoria free from poverty and disadvantage.
At the heart of Deb’s work is a focus on ‘joining the dots’ – between different policy actors, policy agendas, and systems – to shift the conditions that give rise to, and perpetuate, inequity.
Deb is particularly passionate about collaboration and is deeply invested in strong cross-sectoral coalitions for change.
Outside of her day job, Deb is a Non-Executive Director on the board of St Mary’s House of Welcome in Fitzroy. She is a previous Co-Deputy Chair of the Domestic Violence Resource Centre of Victoria (now Safe and Equal), and a past Non-Executive Director on the boards of Prahran Place neighbourhood House and Inner East Community Health Service (now Access Health).

In a world of growing complexity and uncertainty the importance of robust and innovative social, health and legal services cannot be understated. Innovation is, by its nature, challenging, meaning that gatherings like this one are all the more important.
The conference is a fantastic opportunity to really get to meet colleagues, friends, and other practitioners and professionals across both the legal profession as well as health. These events are so important because they really start the conversation around what our respective professions need in the future, and what our community needs.
