Heidi Yates
Heidi Yates is a strategic legal mind and distinguished executive with two decades of frontline leadership advancing justice for marginalised communities. As the ACT Victims of Crime Commissioner (2018–2025), she drove groundbreaking reform and brought stakeholders together to deliver transformative initiatives, including the ACT Charter of Rights for Victims of Crime, the Witness Intermediary Program and the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program. Heidi is now turning her hand to strategic consultancy projects, partnering with organisations to advance equity and systems reform.
Heidi’s unwavering commitment to justice, advocacy for survivors and trailblazing leadership have been recognised through numerous honours, including the 2025 Australian Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership (ACT), 2022 ANU Alumna of the Year, 2022 ACT Woman Lawyer of the Year and being selected as an ACT finalist in the 2023 Australian of the Year Awards.
